The weekly pool schedule shouldn't depend on memory
A pool company with a hundred and forty weekly accounts does not have a scheduling problem on Monday. It has one on the Monday after someone forgets to copy last week's jobs forward. Somebody's Thursday service never makes the schedule, the customer notices the green water before you do, and now you are comping a visit.
Recurring job scheduling software takes the copy-forward step away. You describe the repeating work once, and the jobs show up on the schedule on their own, every time they are due.
How recurring job scheduling works
Built for field service teams, not appointment booking: every visit is a job with a customer, a service location and a technician.
Set it once
Create the job the way you normally would: customer, service location, title, priority, SLA window and notes. Then set how often it repeats, with a start date and an optional end date. The schedule covers daily work, weekly or every-two-weeks visits on one weekday, monthly visits on a chosen day, quarterly service and yearly jobs like a backflow test.
Each visit is a real job
Every occurrence is created as its own job. It lands on the schedule, shows on the technician's phone in the iOS and Android app, and can be invoiced when the work is done. If one visit needs to move because of rain or a locked gate, you move that job. The rest of the series stays put.
Assigned the way you want
Name a preferred technician and a backup on the schedule, and each job goes to the preferred technician, or to the backup when the preferred one is not available. Leave it blank and, on Pro, intelligent dispatch matches the visit to a technician.
Recurring jobs or a service agreement: which one to use
Both put repeat work on the calendar. They answer different questions.
Use a recurring job when all you need is the visit to happen on a schedule: a commercial cleaning account billed per visit, a weekly lawn cut, a monthly filter change you invoice each time.
Use a service agreement when the visits are part of a contract the customer pays for. An agreement schedules its own visits at the frequency you pick, bills covered work at zero with the hours still shown, and reminds you before the term ends. Agreements are on Pro too.
Plenty of shops use both: agreements for their maintenance members, recurring jobs for everything else that repeats. For multi-step work that repeats, Enterprise has recurring work orders, covered on the work orders page.
Where recurring jobs fit by trade
Landscaping
Weekly mows in season, monthly bed maintenance and seasonal cleanups.
Pool Service
The weekly visit is the whole business. The app is offline-first, so a visit can be logged in a backyard with a weak signal.
Pest Control
Quarterly home treatments and monthly commercial service. Run paid plans as agreements and per-visit work as recurring jobs. Planning the visits? Read how to schedule recurring maintenance visits. Plumbing shops can read about plumbing maintenance agreements.
Commercial Cleaning
Nightly and weekly site visits, each one a job with its own record.
What recurring jobs don't do
We would rather you hear it here than in week two of your trial.
A recurring job repeats on one frequency. It does not do every Monday, Wednesday and Friday in one schedule, or only April and October. For those patterns, set up a separate recurring job for each day or season. A recurring job also does not carry a checklist of its own; job forms attach by job type.
Everything else about the day, from reassignments to invoicing, works the same way it does for one-off jobs. See job scheduling and dispatch.
Which Plans Include Recurring Jobs
Recurring jobs are on Pro, along with intelligent auto-assignment, service agreements and membership plans. Recurring work orders are on Enterprise. The Free plan (up to 5 users) includes scheduling and manual assignment, but not recurring jobs. Prices are on the pricing page.
Recurring jobs, answered
What is recurring job scheduling software?
Software that creates repeat jobs for you on a schedule, so a weekly or monthly visit lands on the schedule without anyone re-entering it.
How often can a recurring job repeat?
Daily, weekly or every two weeks on one chosen weekday, monthly on a chosen day of the month, quarterly or yearly.
Can I move one visit without changing the whole series?
Yes. Each generated job is its own job, so you can reschedule, reassign or edit one visit and leave the others alone. Editing the schedule itself changes the jobs it creates from then on.
Do recurring jobs get assigned automatically?
A schedule can name a preferred technician and a backup, and each job goes to the preferred technician or to the backup when the preferred one is not available. With no technician named, the job is created unassigned and, on Pro, intelligent dispatch picks one.
What is the difference between a recurring job and a service agreement?
A recurring job only repeats. A service agreement is a contract: it schedules its own visits, bills covered work at zero and warns you before renewal. Use agreements when the customer pays for a plan.
Can I schedule a recurring job on several weekdays at once?
Not in one schedule. Create one recurring job per weekday instead. The same goes for a pattern that runs only in certain months.
Can I pause a recurring schedule?
Yes. A schedule can be paused and resumed, which suits a seasonal shutdown. Jobs already created are not affected.
