Guided onboarding

This is the second stage of FSM Navigator onboarding. After you complete the mandatory initial setup (timezone, currency, distance unit), an optional Getting Started panel appears in the bottom-right corner of your screen.

The panel walks you through five essential tasks to get your company up and running:

  1. Set up your company profile
  2. Add your first customer
  3. Create your first job
  4. Invite a team member
  5. Explore the mobile app

Two-stage onboarding flow

Stage 1 (mandatory): Initial setup dialog — configure timezone, currency, and distance unit. You cannot skip this; it appears on your first login.

Stage 2 (optional): Guided onboarding panel — five tasks to populate your company with data. Completely optional; you can minimize, skip, or dismiss at any time.

Work at your own pace

You can minimize the panel, skip individual steps, or dismiss it entirely. Return to it at any time from Settings → General → Restart Onboarding.

How the onboarding panel works

This optional panel appears after you complete initial setup. It is non-blocking and dismissible.

Onboarding steps

Step 1: Set up your company profile

  1. Enter your company name, address, and phone number.
  2. Choose your timezone — all job schedules and reports use this setting.
  3. Upload your company logo (available on the Pro plan and above).

Why this matters

Your company profile appears on invoices, customer-facing emails, and the optional customer portal.

Step 2: Add your first customer

  1. Click Add Customer in the onboarding panel.
  2. Fill in the customer's name, contact email, and phone number.
  3. Add at least one service location with a full street address.

The address is used for job scheduling, intelligent dispatch, and map views.

Step 3: Create your first job

  1. Click Create Job in the onboarding panel.
  2. Select the customer you just added.
  3. Enter a job title — for example, "Annual HVAC inspection."
  4. Set a priority (Low, Medium, High, or Urgent).
  5. Click Save to create the job.

Tip

You can assign the job to a team member later, or let the auto-assignment engine handle it if your plan supports that feature.

Step 4: Invite a team member

  1. Click Invite Team Member in the onboarding panel.
  2. Enter the person's email address.
  3. Select a role — for example, Dispatcher or Technician.
  4. Click Send Invitation.

The invitee receives an email with a link to set up their account. You can track pending invitations in Settings → Team.

Step 5: Explore the mobile app

  1. Download FSM Navigator from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android).
  2. Log in with the same credentials you use on the web.
  3. Review the brief tour that highlights what technicians see on mobile — job details, navigation, status updates, and photo capture.

Technician view

Technicians see only the jobs assigned to them, along with customer details and navigation to each service location.

Restarting the onboarding

If you closed the panel before finishing every step, you can bring it back:

  1. Open Settings → General.
  2. Click Restart Onboarding.
  3. The panel reappears with your previous progress intact.

Skipping the onboarding

You are never required to complete the wizard:

  • Click Skip on any individual step to move to the next one.
  • Click Dismiss to hide the panel entirely.
  • Return to it at any time from Settings → General → Restart Onboarding.

Warning

Skipping setup steps does not prevent you from using those features later — it simply closes the guided prompt.

FAQ

Can I go back to a previous step?

Yes. Click any completed step in the progress bar to revisit it. Your earlier entries are saved, so you won't lose any work.

Does everyone on my team see the onboarding?

No. The onboarding wizard appears only for the account owner who created the company. Other team members see a simpler welcome screen after accepting their invitation.

I accidentally dismissed it — how do I get it back?

Go to Settings → General and click Restart Onboarding. The panel will reopen with all of your previous progress preserved.
