Asset management¶
Enterprise feature
Asset management is available on the Enterprise plan. Compare plans to find the right fit for your business.
FSM Navigator's asset management system gives you full visibility into every piece of equipment your company owns, maintains, or services. From the moment you acquire an asset to the day you retire it, every detail is tracked in one place.
What you can do¶
-
Manage assets
Create, edit, search, and organize all your equipment in a central registry with custom fields for every asset type.
-
Define asset types
Set up categories like HVAC units, vehicles, or tools — each with their own custom fields and settings.
-
Track lifecycles
Follow every asset through nine lifecycle statuses — from active service to retirement — with a full audit trail.
-
Schedule maintenance
Create recurring maintenance schedules with checklists and let the system automatically generate jobs when service is due.
-
Manage warranties
Record warranty details, receive expiry notifications, and track warranty claims — all in one place.
-
Monitor meters
Track hours, mileage, or cycle counts and trigger maintenance automatically when thresholds are reached.
-
Monitor alerts
Track warranty expirations, maintenance due dates, meter thresholds, and compliance deadlines automatically generated by background monitoring.
-
Calculate depreciation
Apply straight-line, declining balance, or sum-of-years depreciation methods and generate financial reports.
-
Generate asset tags
Create printable labels with QR codes so your field technicians can scan and access asset details instantly.
-
Bulk operations
Import assets from CSV files, export your full inventory, or update multiple assets at once.
-
Run reports
Generate asset inventory lists, maintenance schedules, depreciation summaries, warranty status reports, and more.
Key concepts¶

| Asset type | A category that groups similar assets and defines their custom fields. |
| Status | Where an asset sits in its lifecycle — for example, Active, In Maintenance, or Retired. |

| Maintenance schedule | A recurring plan that automatically generates jobs when service is due. |
| Depreciation | The reduction in an asset's value over time, calculated using your chosen method. |
Getting started with assets¶
- Define your asset types — set up categories like HVAC Unit, Vehicle, or Power Tool with custom fields.
- Add your assets — create individual asset records or import in bulk from a CSV file.
- Schedule maintenance — create preventive maintenance plans so nothing slips through the cracks.
- Set up meters — track usage-based metrics and configure threshold alerts.
- Configure depreciation — choose a depreciation method and let the system calculate asset values automatically.
Start simple
You don't have to set up everything at once. Begin by adding your most critical equipment and expand from there.
